Ayatollah Sistani Announces Monday Eid al-Fitr

The Office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, announced today, Saturday, (May 23, 2020) that tomorrow, Sunday, will be the supplement of Ramadan, so that Monday will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.

“The crescent of the month of Shawwal al-Mukarram was investigated after sunset on this Saturday, the holy month of Ramadan 2941 A.H., and the sighting of the crescent with the naked eye in Iraq and its vicinity has not been proven,” the office said in a statement. He was expected to see it very high and clear next night, but there is no indication that it will be for two nights. ”

It added, “I saluted that the fatwa of His Eminence, is that the beginning of the month in every region follows the possibility of seeing the crescent with the naked eye in that region or around it and it is not proven that he can see it with close-up tools or in other regions of the world.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
يعلن مكتب سماحة السيد السيستاني (دام ظلّه) في النجف الأشرف للمؤمنين الكرام بأنه قد تمّ التحرّي عن هلال شهر شوال المكرم بعد غروب الشمس من هذا اليوم السبت (29/شهر رمضان المبارك عام 1441)، ولم تثبت رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة في العراق والمناطق المجاورة له، وإن كان من المتوقع أن يرى في الليلة القادمة مرتفعاً وواضحاً جداً ولكن لا دلالة في ذلك على أنه سيكون لليلتين.
وحيث أن فتوى سماحة السيد (دام ظلّه) هي أن أول الشهر في كل منطقة يتبع امكانية رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة في تلك المنطقة أو حواليها ولا يثبت بالتمكن من رؤيته بالأدوات المقرّبة أو في مناطق أخرى من العالم فإن يوم غدٍ الأحد يكون مكملاً لعدة شهر رمضان المبارك وسيكون يوم الاثنين هو يوم عيد الفطر السعيد.
نسأل الله تعالى أن يتقبل من الجميع صالح أعمالهم ويبارك لهم في عيدهم ويعيد هذه المناسبة السعيدة على جميع المسلمين بالخير واليمن والبركات، إنه سميع مجيب.
