UN Special Envoy for Iraq Visits Ayatollah Sistani

The Head of the UN Envoy in Iraq Yan Kubish visited Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Sistani, the Supreme Cleric of Iraq, early in Thursday in holy city of Najaf.

In this meeting, Ayatollah Sistani said “The new Iraqi government is facing a lot of missions and tasks and is looking forward to its successes, especially in the areas of fighting corruption, providing job opportunities for the unemployed, war-torn regions, the return of displaced persons to their place of residence, and the provision of essential and appropriate services to citizens.” 

He also emphasized on the need for the political fractions of the House of Representatives to work with the new Iraqi government to provide real services and improve the situation.

On the same context, Kubish paid a visit to Muqtada al-Sadr, the head of Sadrist Movement. According to Kubish, he discuss with Sadr in political steps necessary to held Abdul Mahdi.. Also, Kubish shared with Sadr, the Ayatollah Sistani’ perspective on the final political process in total and final features
