A Statement of Solidarity for the US Students Movement from Shia Hawza in Kuwait

A group of students at the Shia Hawza in Kuwait has issued a statement of solidarity supporting the student encampment movement in the US.

The full statement is as followes:

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,.

All praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the Prophet of mercy and peace, the messenger of justice and human dignity, Muhammad son of Abdullah-may God’s peace be upon him and his righteous family who were martyrs in the path of goodness and freedom.

God Almighty says, Indeed, We have sent Our messengers with clear proofs and revealed with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice (Quran 57:25).

We deeply empathize with, broadly support, and morally stand with the magnificent student movement led by the youth of American universities in its various forms; from sit-ins, peaceful protests, and media campaigns to strikes.

We believe this movement represents the awakening of the living conscience inherent in humans, a natural empathy with fellow human beings, a longing for the human dignity with which God has honored humanity, and a pursuit of the freedom that tyrants oppose through occupation, genocide, and racist practices.

We see and hope that this student youth movement is a beacon of light in the dark of Western policies dominated by racist thought, led by warmongers and enemies of people. We hope that this beacon illuminates the hearts of the silent majority and sparks a renaissance for all the youth and university students worldwide to support the oppressed in Gaza.

Though thousands of miles away, we send our support, empathy, endorsement, and assistance to your blessed movement, which for us represents “speaking the truth in the face of a tyrant”. All your efforts are greatly appreciated and valued by us.

We echo the words of the master of the free, Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him), «Be free in your world, and as stated by the prince of justice and dignity, Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, in his will to his sons, “Be an adversary to the oppressor and a supporter of the oppressed”.

May God Almighty guide your steps and fulfill your aspirations.
