Ayatollah Ramezani Slams Killing of Shia in Pakistan

The Friday Prayers Leader of Hamburg, Ayatollah Reza Ramezani condemned killing of Shia in Pakistan by Extremists.

More than 27000 Shia Muslims have been killed by extremists in Pakistan in the past few decades, Ayatollah Ramezani said in his Friday prayers sermons yesterday.

He regretted that Shia Muslims are attacked, their properties confiscated and their lives and assets threatened in the South Asian country but no one is making any move to alter the trend.

The Shias in Pakistan are estimated as being about 20 percent of the country’s total population.

They have long been complaining about sectarian violence against the religious minority by extremist groups.

Last week, Pakistani Shia leaders announced a protest rally against what they call state-sponsored clampdown on their religious freedoms and allowing banned terrorist cells to move freely in Pakistan.

Several Sunni groups have also denounced violence against Shia Muslims at the hands of the extremists and described the issue as a conspiracy against the South Asian country.
