Ayatollah Mohseni’s Demise Is a Great Loss: Ayatollah Sistani

Iraqi-based Shia marja’ Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Sistani in a statement has offered his condolences over the passing of senior Shia cleric of Afghanistan, Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammed Asif Mohseni.

In his message, Ayatollah Sistani described Sheikh Mohammad Asif Mohseni as a “Prominent scholar, an honest thinker and one of the combatants who fought for independence and the unity of Afghan nation whose loss is great.”

Ayatollah Sistani relayed his message of sorrow and condolence to Afghan people as well as scholars, religious seminaries as well as Ayatollah Mohseni’s family.

Ayatollah Mohammad Asif Mohseni (1935-2019) was the founder of the Islamic Movement of Afghanistan who passed away at the age of 84 in Kabul on Monday August 5, 2019.
