7th Penang International Halal Expo & Conference (PIHEC) 2016

Seventh International Halal Expo & Conference to be held in Penang on 29 – 31 January 2016.

Hosted and organized by Penang State Government of Malaysia under its halal facilitation agency, Halal Penang, Penang International Halal Expo and Conference (PIHEC) 2015 is an ideal platform and converging point for exhibitors and trade clients across regions of Southeast Asia, West Asia & Europe to promote and market wide array of halal consumable and non-consumable products.

Inaugurated in 2010 with the sole aim of facilitating the sourcing and selling of quality local and international halal consumables, products and services, this annual trade fair serves as a convenient and effective one-stop centre for Halal exporters and importers sourcing out domestic and international products from Northern Malaysia and the IMTT-GT region.

A one-day international Halal conference will be held in conjunction with the exhibition; will see internationally renowned speakers discussing issues and solutions, latest research findings, emerging technologies and trends in tandem with the advancements in the halal industry.

Today, Halal market is emerging as one of the most lucrative and influential market arenas in the world. It has turned into a serious economic sector creating a new wave of economic opportunities and investments. It is fast becoming a magnet for international investment, as major players move to acquire a share of a growing global market.

A study conducted reveals that the global Halal market is expected to jump nine-fold to USD10 trillion from the current level of USD1 trillion by 2030 with the increase in the global Muslim population, the economic development of Muslim countries and more demand from new markets in Europe, Japan, India and China as the key driving factors.

As the halal industry encompasses several sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics and tourism industry, the investment potential in this sector is huge. This conference serves as a platform for a dialogue of doers on issues, challenges and opportunities that are universal towards investing in a lifestyle based on values – a future where Halal is a principle shared by everyone, regardless of faith.
