Video: Ayatollah Bahjat’s Patience towards His Wife

Even when our mother expressed discomfort, if he had an answer, he would not say. He would not respond with anger or sadness at all to the state of sadness from his family, and in most cases he showed no reaction but silence.

In family relationships, quarrels and disputes and rivalries must be completely discarded. People should not take such disputes and fights seriously, but only leave them for the sake of God. This is the advice of Ayatollah Bahjat. And at home he himself listened to the all complaints from his family, but he would not answer, even if they were unfair. The son of Ayatollah Bahjat says: he believed that full mutual understanding and harmony between the wife and the husband in family framework is unattainable, except for prophets and divine saints. He always treated his wife with tolerance. His patience in all circumstances prevailed over everything else. Even when our mother expressed discomfort, if he had an answer, he would not say. He would not respond with anger or sadness at all to the state of sadness from his family, and in most cases he showed no reaction but silence. Sometimes, in cases of heated debates, he would only have his food separately in his own room alone. Often he would buy gifts for our mother. He also advised his children that: ‘you should always behave in toleration with your mother in times of discomfort and you should not treat her inappropriately.’
