Not just Muslims, but Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs as well attended an international conference on ‘Islam and Humanity’ held in the Jammu region of Indian-administered Kashmir.
The conference brought together scores of religious scholars from different parts of India, who emphasized the importance of unity among Muslims. It was an event where non-Muslims were also present in a show of solidarity with Muslims. The religious scholars cautioned the younger generation against divisive plots aimed at sowing discord among Muslims.
Hundreds of people, young and old, also participated in the event, focusing on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The event was organized by the Shia federation of Jammu. Each year, the federation organizes Islamic events around Prophet Muhammad’s birth date.
The conference was also attended by Ayatollah Rahimi of Iran, who said he was pleased to be attending an Islamic conference in a place that’s secular in nature and also advised Muslims to remain steadfast.
Scholars have called on the Muslim community to unite, and they have warned of serious consequences if the community remains without a leader.
At a time when the global Muslim population is growing multi-fold, there are elements across the world who often plot against the Muslim community; organizers say events like these are aimed at spreading the word of peace and unity to counter enemies’ divisive plots.
