Ayatollah Sayyid Shahab al-Din Marashi Najafi has reported a memory from his father: When we were in Najaf, one day my mother told me to call my father to come for lunch. Then I went upstairs and saw that my father had fallen asleep while studying. What should I do, do I have to obey my mother? On the other hand, I was afraid that I would bother him by waking him up. I bent down and kissed his legs for several times until he woke up calmly and saw that I was standing there. When he saw this love and respect and politeness from me, he raised his hand to heaven and said: “My son, May Allah bless and glorify and honor you, and thus you will become a servant of the Ahl al-Bayt.”And Ayatollah Marashi Najafi became the mujtahid at the age of twenty seven. Today, the library that he founded on his own expenses, is Iran’s biggest and most famous library. That is also where he wanted to be buried, right in the hall “below the feet of the guest researchers and scholars using his library resources.” He always said: “Everything I have is blessing from my father’s prayer.”
