Students of Westminster University Give out Flowers in Honour of Lady Fatima +Pics

This year the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her) coincided with the 8th of March International Women’s Day and the Ahl al-Bayt society of the University of Westminster took the opportunity to mark the occasion by distributing roses at their Marylebone campus.

Student volunteers of the society fundraised to buy 200 roses which they decorated with quotes from Sayyida Fatima Zahra and set up a stall to give out red and white roses with the quotes attached to them along with chocolates to other students, staff and visitors of the University.

The recipients of the roses were genuinely surprised and delighted by the gesture and showed great interest in learning more about the life and legacy of our Noble Lady.

People were amazed to find out that Islam holds such deep respect and high regard for a woman and that within the folds of Islam which is sometimes portrayed as a patriarchal religion there is a profound equality in terms of spiritual attainment for males and females.

They also discovered that Her life provides a clearly defined blue print for what it means to live a fulfilling and successful life as a woman in her role as a daughter, a wife and a mother, with in a wider society and a community engaged individual but above all a servant of God.
