Mustafa Prize: Isfahan Prepares to Host Major Muslim Scientific Award

The central Iranian city of Isfahan is gearing up to host the highly anticipated 5th Mustafa Prize ceremony next month, which will draw the participation of 150 distinguished luminaries from across the Muslim world.

The prestigious biennial event aims to recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements in the realm of science.

Scheduled for October 2, the 5th Mustafa Prize ceremony will welcome renowned scientists, hailing from 57 countries.

In conjunction with this grand occasion, Isfahan will also serve as the backdrop for the 9th round of the Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP). Organized by the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation, STEP is a platform designed to foster scientific collaboration and networking among scholars within the Islamic world. It achieves this by orchestrating international events that facilitate the exchange of knowledge and promote scientific synergy.

Hossein Rabbani, the head of Isfahan’s Elites Foundation, emphasized the importance of recognizing excellence in the scientific community through awards. He noted that such accolades shed light on the remarkable potential within various scientific domains.

Rabbani underscored the global significance of the Mustafa Prize, describing it as an international award with far-reaching impacts, particularly in the realm of media. He highlighted that it sends a powerful message about the Muslim world’s dedication to the advancement of science and technology.

The Mustafa Prize, established in 2012, has become a symbol of scientific excellence. Since its inception, it has been held every two years, commencing in 2015, to honor the outstanding contributions of researchers and scientists from the Islamic world.

Laureates of the Mustafa Prize receive a prestigious award of $500,000, funded through the science and technology endowment. Additionally, they are bestowed with the esteemed Mustafa Medal and an Honorary Diploma. The prize encompasses four distinct categories: Information and Communication Science and Technology, Life and Medical Science and Technology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and All Areas of Science and Technology.

The Mustafa Prize’s influence has been compared to that of the Nobel Prize, earning it the title “the Muslim Nobel” by Science Magazine in 2016.
