Islamic Awakening Supreme Council to Be Held in Tehran

The 10th session of Supreme Council of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening will be held in Iran’s capital of Tehran on Thursday for talks on four main topics.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati said 110 Shiite and Sunni Muslim clerics have been invited to the upcoming gathering.

The decision to hold the meeting was made with an eye to rapid developments in the Middle East and the presence of a number of Sunni and Shiite clerics in Tehran on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week, one of whose days marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he explained.

Velayati also noted that the gathering will focus on four main subjects, including Prophet Muhammad’s Seerah (way of living) as the Islamic Awakening paradigm, studying damages to Islamic Awakening movement and its future, studying the misguided ideology of Takfirism, and Palestine as the Islamic world’s top priority.

The previous edition of the meeting was held in Baghdad in October with representatives from 22 Muslim nations in attendance.
