The cultural and religious center of al-Hoda Islamic Society has been inaugurated in the Canadian city of Edmonton in the western province of Alberta.
Representative of top Iraqi cleric and Shia grand marja’ Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani was present at the opening ceremony.
Also attending were municipality of Edmonton and provincial officials.
It was held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA), the beloved daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ayatollah Sayyed Morteza Kashmiri, Ayatollah Sistani’s representative delivered a speech at the event and then inaugurated the center.
Canada is a North American country with a large Muslim population.
More than one million Muslims live in Canada, making up around 4 percent of the country’s total population.
