Ayatollah Sistani Recommends Avoiding the Use of Violence against Current Rulers

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Sistani met with the delegation of the Shia Ulama Council of Afghanistan on Sunday, the 8th of Jumada al-Akhira, 1444 A.H. (January 1, 2023).

In this meeting, the head of the delegation presented a report on the country’s current situation and the Council’s activities.

His Eminence expressed great regret and sorrow for the many forms of suffering and hardships that the nation of Afghanistan has endured in the last few decades, referring to the various atrocities that in this era are being perpetrated on everyone, especially the women of the country.

Ayatollah Sistani stated that all Muslims and the international communities have an important task. He urged leaders not to leave the oppressed people of Afghanistan alone in this challenging situation and not to withhold any help to alleviate their suffering.

Emphasizing the necessity of maintaining national unity, solidarity, and internal cohesion, observing peaceful life with all ethnic groups and groups, and ordering to avoid any violence concerning the country’s current rulers, His Eminence advised the Council not to fail in any effort to pursue and uphold the rights of the people.
