Ayatollah Nouri-Hamedani Urges Islamic Seminaries to Boost Int’l Ties

Ayatollah Hossein Ali Nouri Hamedani, an Iranian Shīʻī Marjaʻ called on Islamic seminaries to strengthen their international relations.

In a meeting with Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, director of Iran’s Islamic seminaries, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani said the seminaries must develop relationship with the Muslim world scholarly centers like Al-Azhar.

He also described it as a duty of the seminaries to introduce the teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) to the world.

The senior cleric referred to the seminaries’ capacities in different Quranic, religious and ideological fields and said establishment of a joint comparative studies group with Sunni Muslims can help to provide answers to questions and doubts.

Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani further said that in today’s world, the enemies have united to foment discord and disunity among Muslims.

In such circumstances, the path forward goes through true faiths in the sublime teachings of Islam, he went on to say.

In the meeting, Ayatollah Arafi presented a report about his recent trips to a number of European countries and his meeting with Pope Francis.

He said that during his meeting with the Pope, he introduced the capacities of the Islamic seminaries to the head of the Catholic Church.

During his trip to the Vatican, Ayatollah Arafi conveyed a message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei to Pope Francis.
