Ayatollah Sistani Urges Arab, Islamic Nations to End Gaza Tragedy

The office of the Religious Authority in Iraq, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, issues a statement regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

“After nearly two years of continuous killing and destruction, which has left hundreds of thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the demolition of entire cities and residential complexes, the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are currently suffering from extremely dire living conditions, particularly due to the scarcity of food supplies, which has caused a widespread famine from which even children, the sick, and the elderly have not been spared,” said the office in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency .

The statement added, “The only thing expected of the occupying forces is to engage in this horrific brutality as part of their ongoing attempts to displace Palestinians from their homeland, then what is expected of the countries of the world, especially Arab and Islamic countries, is not to allow this major humanitarian tragedy to continue, but rather to intensify their efforts to put an end to it, and to do their utmost to compel the occupying entity and its supporters to allow the delivery of food and other basic necessities to innocent civilians as soon as possible.”

“The horrific scenes of widespread famine in the Gaza Strip, broadcast by the media, do not allow any person of conscience to enjoy food or drink. Indeed, as the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), said regarding the assault on a woman in the lands of Islam, ‘If a Muslim were to die of grief after this, he would not be blamed for it, but rather, in my view, he would be worthy of it,” said the statement.
