Leader of Religious Minorities of Iran strongly Condemn Threat to Assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader

Supreme Leaders of Religions and Religious Minorities of Iran have expressed their deep concern over the unprecedented hatred and threats, made by the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, to assassinate the Supreme Religious Authority and Wise Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei.

Divine leaders and religious scholars are the perfect mirror of the identity of the followers of divine religions and monotheistic nations, and attacking them is considered an attack on the beliefs and emotions of hundreds of millions of people and a threat to the spiritual and civil existence of societies.

Accordingly, in light of religious teachings and established legal standards, the undersigned, on behalf of scholars, professors, and theological researchers of religions and followers of religious minorities in Iran, express their deep concern over the unprecedented hatred and threats, made by the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, to assassinate the Supreme Religious Authority and Wise Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei.

They have expressed and draws the attention of all religious leaders, international organizations and communities, and the free governments and nations of the world to the following:

1- Threats to assassinate political and religious figures, especially high-ranking officials of a United Nations member state, are a clear violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the peremptory norms of international law and are in serious conflict with the established principles of humanitarian law. Such a threat is subject to criminal prosecution and, if imminent, also entitles the right to preemptive defense.

2- Such actions and threats are a clear example of spreading hatred and hurt the religious feelings of Iran, the region, and all freedom-loving and honorable people in the world, and it is feared that they will provoke a wave of severe and uncontrollable reactions at the regional and trans-regional levels.

3- The world’s religious and interfaith leaders, the United Nations Security Council and its Secretary-General, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and other international institutions and competent legal authorities are expected to respond decisively, publicly, and effectively to this explicit and unprecedented threat and prevent the institutionalization of anti-religious, illegal, and criminal practices outside the framework of international law.
